We are looking for Software Development Engineers in Test (SDET’s) to join our Peterborough based Mi CtM team to be key members in continuing to improve and move forward the journey for setting up customer accounts.
What will it take?
As an SDET, our customers’ journey through Mi CtM will be extremely important to you, Mi CtM is a key part of our business and our customers matter most to us. You’ll get to work on a customer journey that supports millions of people, you’ll be passionate about working collaboratively with other testers and engaging with different stakeholders.
As a member of the team you’ll have ownership of the automation framework and be able to guide the testing strategy. You will investigate new technologies and ways of working within the team and be responsible for leading the testing of cross-team projects, as well as driving the team’s Immune System. You’ll be a keen contributor to the CtM SDET community and help share knowledge and best practices.
You’ll have working knowledge of writing clean and efficient code in a collaborative agile environment, as well as experience of:

  • Participating in 3 amigos sessions
  • Writing clear, testable acceptance criteria
  • Mentoring team members in testing practices
  • Exploratory, security and performance testing
  • Testing RESTful/web services
  • Ruby, C# or Javascript
  • Specflow / Selenium / Capybara / Webdriver

Acting as a trusted advisor and consultant to the data community will need to be second nature for you to get the best out of this role. You’ll evangelise and promote new technologies and techniques –sharing your experience and expertise across the teams. You’ll have no ego but you’ll challenge accepted standards and the way we work, ask questions to improve performance and quality of teams. Tightly integrated with an agile team of big data developers, you will be responsible for assuring that the data solution delivered by the team is tested, validated and monitored automatically at the right level.
What will it take?
A desire for accountability and responsibility as well as the temperament to thrive under pressure will be part of your DNA.  Clearly you’ll have the ability to write clean, maintainable and efficient code in a collaborative agile environment and you’ll also have experience of exploratory, security and performance testing.  Ideally you’ll have experience of testing within a data environment (SQL and/or Hadoop) where downtime is not tolerated.  You’ll be passionate about technology and any experience in Hadoop, HIVE, PIG, Spark as well as Jenkins or Go, and GIT would be a real advantage in your application. If you don’t have professional experience with these tools and packages this role gives you a great opportunity to learn these sought-after skills.  
Please make sure you have the following:

  • Experience of building frameworks such as Cucumber or Specflow
  • Competent in a high-level language such as Java, Python or Scala
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable and efficient code
  • Quality assurance with very large datasets; appreciation of the sensitivity of personal data
  • Experience of TDD and/or BDD
  • Passionate about technology, with an ability to master new technologies
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

In this new and exciting role you’ll have the opportunity to establish, manage, and build UX research practice at CTM, including our new usability labs, ensuring that customer insight is gathered and reported upon. You’ll also represent the voice of the customer in all UX decision making and contribute to the goals of the newly formed CTM UX team.
With the bigger picture in mind, you’ll collaboratively develop a clear programme of research activity and understand stated and unstated user needs, motivations, expectations and frustrations.
What will it take?
As an experienced user experience researcher, you’ll have experience with a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methods, applied in a UX/design environment including one to one in depth interviews, guerrilla research, remote testing, focus groups, online feedback and analytics.
You’ll be an excellent communicator and able to influence decision making through customer insight. You’ll also have solid understanding and proven application of good user centred design/HCI principles and heuristics.
Along with a pragmatic approach to delivering research, you’ll bring experience of managing planning, recruitment (via agencies), delivery, and reporting for research projects. You’ll also Experience managing a usability research lab is also desirable.
